My journey into photography began when I was fourteen, sitting on a wooden stool in a studio in Osaka, Japan. I watched as a photographer operated a vintage, large-format Polaroid camera—a massive black box that turned light and 8x10 film into something tangible. When he handed me my favorite print, I didn’t just see an image; I saw myself differently. In that moment, I realized the power of photography to bestow confidence and shift a person’s perspective. 

That initial spark led me into the world of fashion and beauty, where I spent my college years at AUArts refining my technical skill and publishing work in magazines. However, my 'why' shifted during a quiet summer in a Calgary portrait studio. Having recently lost my own grandparents, I met a young family who had come in to capture their final portraits together before the father lost his battle with cancer.

In that room, I realized that my camera was more than a tool for beauty—it was a way to press pause on life’s most profound stories. It was a way to preserve happiness, love, and legacy.

Today, my work is a blend of that fashion-forward eye and a deep reverence for human connection. As a romantic at heart, I am inspired by the timeless aesthetic of film and the simple, clean elegance of an honest moment. I feel incredibly lucky to spend my days with people I might never have met, sharing in their most joyous milestones and creating images that will be cherished for generations.

I realize now, my path as a photographer has always been about the way an image makes us feel.
